Generosity of a south Asian music lover

Dr Alan Wood an avid supporter of south Asian arts and a regular attender of concerts and events at Kala Sangam sadly died in September this year and we all at Kala Sangam express our deepest sympathies to his wife and family at his untimely passing.

Alan had an interest in restoring instruments and set about replacing the bridge and re-stringing a sitar.

It was his intention to donate this sitar and sets of tablas to Kala Sangam to enable a young musician to take their first steps on this instrument.  I am delighted that I am able to honour his wishes and hope that some future young musician will benefit from Alan’s legacy.

We wish to thank Pam for this generous donation and look forward to welcoming her to our events at Kala Sangam in the future.
