Caroline Harrison, the Group Chief Executive of the highly regarded Aspire-Igen group of companies, has been appointed the new Chair of Trustees at Kala Sangam.

Harrison took over Aspire-Igen back in July 2012 and since then, the company has grown from its small Bradford roots to become an internationally recognised centre of excellence, in the development and delivery of careers guidance and vocational training. From a staff of 60, the company now employs 250 people in 18 offices across the Yorkshire & Humber region. She currently serves as a director of both Careers Yorkshire & the Humber, and Careers England. Previously, she has extensive experience as a Finance Director, and worked in the arts as Finance Director at West Yorkshire Playhouse from 2001 to 2009.

Caroline said “I am thrilled to be asked to work with Kala Sangam at this important stage in their development. I am passionate about diversity and inclusion, and I wholly believe in the power of the arts to change people’s lives. Kala Sangam is a dynamic organisation with a commitment to excellence, and is a force for all that is good and exciting in this vibrant city. I can’t wait to see them grow and prosper in the future.”

CEO of Kala Sangam, Ajit Singh said “Kala Sangam is delighted to appoint Caroline Harrison as our new Chair on our board of trustees. I think Caroline is a perfect fit in terms of her experience of working in an arts venue with her West Yorkshire Playhouse experience and also her entrepreneurial drive in her current post as CEO of the Aspire-Igen Group.  Having these skills together is rare, and the bonus here is that Caroline is Bradford city centre based, which means she will be very accessible. It’s an exciting time, but also very challenging but we believe we have the right person for this next phase of growth in Kala Sangam.
