Mahmud Manning | Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow Exhibition
Mon 3 Jul – Fri 30 Jul
Opening times: 9am – 5pm Mon – Fri, 9am – 1pm Sat | Free
This exhibition ‘Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow’ features work created by local people from Bradford who have undertaken the challenge of gaining an insight into the making of Quranic Frontispiece Illumination.
These pieces of art display the journey of recovery, remembrance and celebration in the making, aiming to attain the heights of excellence achieved by previous makers and inspired by collections held at The British Library and The Chester Beatty Library among others.
We are very pleased to invite and welcome everyone to view these works made by local people, showing this journey of making and their commitment as well as the layers and processes involved in producing such works.
Supported by the AMAL charitable foundation; a study program was initiated by the lead artist Mahmud Manning. From a working base at the Bradford Central Mosque, the process of making has been developed over 9 months, from paper preparation and gold leaf into paint, to design and application.
