Bradford Mela Celebrates Coming of Age

The Bradford Mela 2009 will be held on June 13th Saturday and 14th Sunday . This year  will be a big year for Bradford Mela as it celebrates its ‘Coming of Age’ - marking the 21st anniversary of the original Bradford Mela.

The Bradford Mela in 1988 was the first event of its kind in Europe and this year’s event will see the same family friendly mix of quality outdoor entertainment, tasty snack foods, street theatre, market stalls, children’s activities and funfair rides that made the first Mela so special. Bradford Mela 2009 promises to be an extra-special celebration, with specially commissioned work and collaborations, new performance areas, more participatory workshops,  a new look children’s zone, and of course the best of the local and international entertainment.

Kala Sangam have jam packed programme of dance and music in a dedicated Kala Sangam tent at the Peel Park on both days - 13th and 14th June.

Come along, see a performance and then take part in a workshop! Activities will start at 12pm and go on until 6pm on both days so bring your family for what promises to be a fun weekend at this years Bradford Mela.
