Kala Sangam in collaboration with Harrogate Theatre is delighted to present Kala Kahani: Artistic Tales fusing South Asian classical dance, storytelling and music in three performances on  23rd January, 27th February and 20th March at Harrogate Theatre Studio.

Kala Kahani, in Sanskrit meaning ‘artistic tales’, is an exploration of stories from Indian mythology told through a blending of classical dance, traditional music, storytelling and song. In the intimate surroundings of the Harrogate Theatre Studio space, the audience will enjoy a taste of colourful and vibrant India. Through the language of classical Indian dance of Bhratanatyam, an ancient dance form which exploits the use of hand gestures and facial expressions, these stories will be interpreted while they are told in English. The performances will be fascinating for all, from those new to South Asian cultural practice and to those familiar with the art forms wishing to develop their understanding.

Each performance will offer an enjoyable and enlightening introduction to the practice of these classical Indian art forms. Audience members can book all 3 nights for the price of 2 for a more intensive insight into Indian classical arts practice.

Tickets are £10 with concessions available and can be booked online at www.harrogatetheatre.co.uk or alternatively through the Harrogate Theatre Box Office on 01423 502116.
