South Indian Carnatic Vocalist Sanjay Subrahmanyan is one of the leading carnatic (South Indian classical) music vocalists today. His music is fresh, innovative and imaginative and he has a huge following in India and around the world where he has won many awards for his excellence, including the prestigious Kalaimamani award from the Tamil Nadu Government last year.He started learning music at seven, initially trained on the violin and later switching to be trained by Rukmini Rajagopalan in vocal music. Sanjay also teaches and has many successful students including Prashanth Viswanathan, Swarna Rethas, Sandeep Narayan and Prasanna Venkatraman in the contemporary music field. Sanjay will be accompanied by three musicians Varadarajan on violin, Neyveli Venkatesh on Mridangam and R.N. Prakash on Ghatam (clay pot).
