Kala Sangam 27th May 2019
Autism/ This Is Me Exhibition

Saima Kaur – Autism/ This Is Me Exhibition Launch

Thursday 4 April – 5pm

Exhibition runs until Thursday 23 May

Launching in World Autism Awareness Week (1-7 April), using visual storytelling, Autism/ This Is Me explores the personal journey of textile artist Saima Kaur.

Through Phulkari, the exquisite hand stitched textiles of the Punjab, Kaur captures the difficulties and delights of having a child who doesn’t fit into the average world.

Kaur uses Phulkari, fabrics traditionally created by women to tell stories and mark important rites of passage, to invite you into the world of her family, revealing the memories, the love and the loss alongside the unseen moments of sheer hilarity and joy.

Free entry – please book in advance to avoid disappointment.
