Marcus Levine – Hockney, A Portrait In Nails

Exhibition

Friday 8th September – Saturday 21st October

Marcus Levine, sculptor in the human physique, introduces an entirely unique approach to sculpture. His work features thousands of nails hammered by hand on wooden panels of varied heights and distances, creating tone and textures without tracing on to the board.

The majority of Levine’s ‘nail sculptures’ are extraordinary representations of the human form. This exhibition focusses on an extraordinary human – David Hockney. To celebrate Hockney’s 80th birthday this year, Levine created the world’s first and largest coloured nail sculpture portrait which can be found in Bradford’s Little Germany. Created as a companion to this piece, this exhibition shows the processes Levine went through to create the portrait alongside a number of his other signature works.
